Yapped Privacy Policy

Yapped helps creators build a daily speaking and posting habit. This Privacy Policy explains what information Yapped collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
Account and profile information
We collect information needed to create and manage your account, including:
- your Yapped user id and Supabase authentication id
- your email address if you sign in with Apple
- your display name if you add one
- your subscription status, trial end date, Superwall user id, and related entitlement state
- your onboarding and settings choices, such as your goal, brand context, topic bank, notification time, streak, streak shields, and timezone
Yapped allows anonymous onboarding before Apple sign-in. Anonymous accounts still have a Yapped user id so your first yap, profile choices, and purchase entitlement can be connected to the same account when you later sign in.
Recordings and yap data
When you record a yap, Yapped collects the original video long enough to process it. We use the recording to create:
- a transcript
- keeper-span timing and cleanup metadata
- a hero thumbnail for your yap grid
- a conservatively cleaned-take clip
- a cleanup summary shown before you save
The original uploaded video is deleted from server storage after processing on a best-effort basis. Before this policy is published, Yapped must have the 24-hour temporary-upload cleanup backup live for abandoned uploads and best-effort deletion failures.
Yapped stores the transcript, hero thumbnail, cleaned-take clip, prompt or hook text, save metadata, and cleanup summary with your yap so the app can show your history and let you save or re-save finished clips. The full untrimmed recording is not retained by Yapped servers after processing. If you choose "Save full recording," the app saves the local device recording to your camera roll.
Saved clips may also live in your device camera roll. Yapped cannot delete files that you have already saved locally.
Hook generation and brand context
Yapped uses your brand context, selected hook template, and related profile information to generate tailored hook ideas. The generated hooks are suggestions; you choose what to record.
Payments and subscriptions
Purchases are processed through Apple and Superwall. Yapped receives subscription and entitlement information needed to unlock or lock app access, such as whether your entitlement is in trial, active, expired, or cancelled state. Yapped does not receive or store your full payment card number.
Analytics and diagnostics
Yapped may collect product usage events, such as onboarding progress, recording, saving, streak updates, paywall events, purchase or restore results, and hook generation. These events help us understand whether the product is working and improve reliability. We do not use your recordings for third-party advertising.
Yapped may also receive diagnostic information such as crash or performance data through app, hosting, or analytics providers.
Information we do not collect
Yapped does not collect contacts, precise location, health data, financial account data, or payment card numbers.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- provide the app and process yaps
- authenticate users and preserve anonymous onboarding state through Apple sign-in
- enforce subscriptions and restore purchases
- generate tailored hook ideas
- show your yap history, streak, settings, and saved state
- send notifications if you enable them
- secure, debug, and improve the service
- comply with legal obligations and App Store requirements
How We Share Information
We share information with service providers that help operate Yapped, including hosting, database, storage, processing, authentication, subscription, analytics, and notification providers. These providers may include Supabase, Modal, Apple, Superwall, AI or transcription providers used for processing and hook generation, and analytics or diagnostics providers if enabled.
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect Yapped or users, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your recordings with third-party advertisers.
Your Choices
Camera, microphone, photos, and notifications
Yapped asks for camera and microphone permission when you record. Yapped asks for photo library permission when you save a finished clip. Yapped asks for notification permission only if you enable reminders. You can change these permissions in iOS Settings.
Subscription management
Subscriptions are managed through Apple. You can manage or cancel a subscription at https://apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions or from iOS Settings.
Account deletion
You can delete your account from Settings. Account deletion removes your Yapped account and associated server-side data, including your yaps, transcripts, derived clips and thumbnails, settings, streak state, and usage counters. If a storage deletion fails, Yapped treats the remaining object as user-scoped cleanup work.
Deleting your Yapped account does not automatically delete clips already saved to your device camera roll. Deleting your Yapped account also may not cancel an Apple auto-renewing subscription; cancel subscriptions through Apple before deleting your account if you do not want future billing.
Retention
Yapped keeps account and yap data while your account is active so the app can show your history and support the daily habit. Original uploaded videos are intended to be temporary and removed after processing, with a 24-hour cleanup backup required before launch. Derived clips, thumbnails, transcripts, and yap metadata remain until you delete your account or the data is otherwise removed under this policy.
Children
Yapped is not intended for children under 13. Do not use Yapped if you are under 13.
Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. No internet service can guarantee perfect security.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and provide additional notice when appropriate.
